Overview

Charlie Davies is a professional artist living in Oxfordshire and Somerset, dividing her time between painting and printmaking. She paints in oils, revelling in the subtleties of colour and the effects of light achievable with this medium. Her paintings are predominantly en plein air landscapes, but she also enjoys creating larger studio works and still life. She feels fortunate to be part of the London Plein Air Painting Group, which meets monthly to paint local scenes and share experiences and ideas. This connection with fellow artists is invaluable to her, as artistic pursuits can often be solitary.

Charlie has won two People’s Choice awards for her artwork. In 2010, she received the award for her painting of the Didcot Towers, titled “You’ll miss us when we’re gone!” This success led her to focus on local landscapes, particularly Wittenham Clumps and her beautiful hometown of Oxford. Her work was featured in The Oxford Art Book, published in September 2018, the same year she won the VAO People’s Choice Award. She has exhibited multiple times at the Affordable Art Fair and the Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Society of Botanical Artists. As an award-winning Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists and a member of the Oxford Art Society, she continues to grow her profile in the art world.

In 2023, she achieved the honour of being accepted into the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition—one of the most exciting milestones in her career. Being part of such an incredible and historic event is truly thrilling for her. Her paintings and etchings are now in private collections worldwide, and she is delighted to be able to share a selection of her work.
